Map: Missouri State Government Spending in FY2017

By Patrick Ishmael Filed February 8, 2018 Source Show-Me Institute

Last month the Show-Me Institute published an extensive dataset of state spending from the Office of Administration, stretching back to FY2000 and through FY2017. Given the success of the Municipal Checkbook's app, we decided to render one for the state for the past fiscal year.

Users can scroll through the vendors with whom the state did much of its spending, zoom in on a map of vendors to see who does a lot of business with the state in your neighborhood, and look at spending and transaction patterns between the state and vendors over the course of the year.

(This is a data visualization page with an interactive Tableau dashboard, not reproduced here — see source_url. The app processes over a million transactions.)

As confirmed against the Show-Me Institute's website on August 15, 2026, the Institute's stated policy permits reprinting of its published articles and commentary provided the original author receives credit. Letting the Institute know about a reprint is appreciated but is not a condition of use.

This entry was archived under that permission as it stood on the date above. If the Institute's policy changes after that date, it does not apply retroactively to entries already reproduced here under the terms in effect at the time — this is a record of the grant as confirmed, not a live status check.
