Suppressing the Vote or Stopping Fraud: the Voter ID Debate
The Show-Me Institute and the Federalist Society co-sponsored an October 2012 debate in Saint Louis over voter-identification laws and election fraud. John Fund of The American Spectator argued the case for stronger identification safeguards, while Denise Lieberman of the Advancement Project presented the opposing view and emphasized the risk that such requirements could burden lawful voters.
Judge Robert H. Dierker moderated the discussion. The event was intended to put the competing legal and policy arguments in direct conversation rather than treating the controversy as a one-sided question.
